Data for Inclusive Societies (DATIS) project

The aim of the project

The overarching goal of the proposed project Data for Inclusive Societies: Foes and Friends of Inclusiveness in contemporary Greece (DATIS) is to study the foes and friends of inclusive societies in contemporary Greece by implementing an innovative empirical research design.

DATIS will be a data-driven project with the aim to explore both theoretically and empirically the enemies vis-à-vis the supporters of inclusive societies by focusing both on parties and political elites, as well as citizens. In a broader perspective, the goal of DATIS is to create an “index of inclusiveness”.

Data sources

Data which will be used by the research project is generated by:

  1. web questionnaires
  2. social media
  3. Websites
  4. Voting Advice Applications (VAAs)

Objectives

  1. The first main objective of the project is to provide an in-depth and integrated quantitative framework of analysis for the foes and friends of inclusiveness in Greece. This will be accomplished mainly by overviewing the state of the art in this research direction, but also by analyzing empirical data from different projects.
  2. The second main objective is to trace and analyze inclusive attitudes among the Greek political elites and political parties and at the mass level and to investigate the potential interaction between the two levels as well as the interaction between inclusiveness, populism, solidarity and group-based polarization.
